SUBMISSIONS OPEN 11 March 2019
All Posters will be reviewed, and feedback will be provided to all authors.
The Scientific Committee invites you to submit an abstract for the poster sessions.
Abstracts should contain original work and must not have been published or presented at a meeting of another national or international scientific organization prior to this meeting.
Abstracts must report results of a study or investigation in a structured layout (see format guidelines).
All abstracts must be submitted through the electronic online submission system. Please read the submission criteria before submitting your abstract.
Registration closes: 25 October 2019
Abstracts submitted by 19 August will be considered for an oral presentation
Abstracts submitted from 20 August - 25 October will be considered for a poster
Decisions announced: 30 October 2019
Abstracts will be subject to anonymous peer review by 3 or more referees and selected on the basis of merit.
Authors will be notified in writing.
The authors of the accepted abstract must also be registered as conference delegates and are encouraged to register early.
Use a structured layout for the abstract that includes the following headings: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion (or Conclusions).
Introduction: should be informative and short, stating why the study was conducted
Materials and Methods: indicating the locale, number, type of subjects or material being studied, the principal procedures, assays, tests or treatments performed
Results: confirming or refuting the hypothesis, supported by statistics if appropriate
Discussion/Conclusions: discussing the new findings of the study and specifying what these findings add to what is known already
The abstract should be typed with single spacing with one-line space between paragraph and headings
Do not indent paragraphs
The body of the document should be no more than 375 words (2200 characters, including spacing)
Type the title in bold sentence case, authors in italics and body in normal text (font size 12)
The title should reflect the contents and should be no longer than 150 characters
List all authors first name followed by family name followed by affiliation
(Mary Jones1; Peter Masinga2; ….)
1 Department of Zoology, University of Namibia, Windhoek, Namibia
2 Department of Biostatistics, University of the Western Cape, Cape Town, South Africa
The name of the first author is also the presenting author
Do not include professional titles or degrees
